The 2002-2003 school year is upon us. Last year
school year there were a lot of traffic problems at Hook Elementary.
For the 2002-2003 school year we are going to implement some procedures that
should help with the traffic flow during the times that students are being
dropped off and being picked up at school.
Some streets will be one way
during the times students are dropped off and being
picked up. These times are 7:30-8:30 in
the morning and 2:30-3:30 in the afternoon.
Clinton Street will be
One Way south from Frey
to Vanderbilt.
Jones
will be One Way
east from Ollie to Clinton.
Shirley and Ollie
will remain as two way traffic. Shirley has
limited parking and the buses will be using that street.
The following procedures are for
parents dropping off or picking up students at Hook Elementary.
Third Grade
parents use Jones, which is one way east.
Parents use the drive-thru which is wide enough for two vehicles.
Students will be dropped off or picked up from this drive-thru.
Do Not Stop in the drive-thru and go inside to talk to
teachers or pickup your child. Stay with your vehicle and keep the
flow of traffic moving. Depart on Jones
or Clinton to Vanderbilt. While you are waiting for school to release,
leave room on Jones to allow traffic to get through. Do not block
traffic on Ollie and do not double park, if necessary you may wait on Jones
Street west of Ollie.
Forth Grade
parents use Clinton, which will be one way south.
Pickup or drop off children at the east end of school. Depart south on
Clinton and turn left on Jones or continue south to Vanderbilt. Leave
room on Clinton for one lane of traffic to move through to the south.
Always leave room for at least one lane of traffic to drive through.
Do not double park.
You may wait in the no parking
areas as long as you stay with your car.
Drivers violating traffic laws or parking restrictions will receive a
ticket. There will be no warnings other than this letter.
Our goal is to keep the traffic
moving and to keep your children safe.
Please keep this in mind when driving around
the school. Drive with courtesy and respect for other drivers and
pedestrains.
Sincerely,
Chief Roy Halsell
